How it is made
As the studio tells it
The blossoms, trees and hearts are raised from the clay and painted by hand under the glaze, on a kaolin body, as the seller states. The glaze is what the seller calls a kiln-change glaze: its colour shifts with the heat inside the kiln, so the tone and speckle differ on every cup. The maker and the place of making are not stated.
The cream glaze is flecked with brown and turns toasted tan where it thins at the rim. Blossom has no loop handle: a flat pink flower stands out from the side as the grip, and a second flower sits on the front. Grove carries two raised trees with sea-green crowns, and Heart a glossy red heart with a handle shaped like one. The glaze colour and speckle differ from cup to cup.
