How it is made

As the studio tells it

The seller lists casting openings among the normal marks, which means the pieces are cast in a mould, and states each is ground by hand before firing and polished by hand for about two hours after. The outside is left unglazed. The seller describes the clay as Dehua porcelain clay from Fujian, low in iron, which fires to a white that lets light through in strong light. It says small pinholes, bubbles or specks are a normal part of the process.

Each piece is ground by hand before firing and polished by hand after, which leaves the unglazed outside soft and matte. The tall cup suits a flat white or tea, the short one shows latte art from above, and the pitcher pours milk from a pointed spout. None of the three has a handle.
