Each cup turns on a ceramic bearing in its stem. The figures are painted by hand one step apart, like the frames of an early animation, so they move when it spins. A ring of small silver-colored charms hangs from the ledge of each. They hold about 10 ounces of tea or coffee, and the metal charms keep them out of the microwave.
