How it is made
As the studio tells it
The studio brushes the glaze onto each cup by hand, it states, so its texture is uneven from one cup to the next, and it cuts the facets of the body by hand. The lamb is decorated under the glaze, and the piece is fired at high temperature.
The glaze is brushed on by hand, so the caramel brown of the upper cup streaks where it meets the near-black below. A curly white lamb walks round the side of the cup, and a smaller one sits at the edge of the saucer. The rim is uneven and the handle is a thick loop. Small iron spots and pinholes in the glaze come from the clay, the maker says.
